First-Year Students
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
Please Note: Updated information for the Class of 2025 will be available in early June 2021. Orientation activities for most first year students are scheduled to begin on campus on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021, with move-in on or before that date. Some pre-orientations or athletic pre-seasons may begin earlier. Given our continued responsiveness to the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask that students and their friends or family not make travel arrangements until the fall semester dates are confirmed and recommend flexible/refundable travel plans at that time.
Please read the following information carefully and connect with Access and Disability Services if you need academic, housing, and/or dining accommodations.
Reasonable accommodations give students equal access to all campus programs, events, and services. ADS works collaboratively with each student applying for accommodations to determine eligibility, and to identify the accommodations that are necessary and helpful to the student without altering the fundamental nature of the academic program. Please read this information thoroughly and contact Sherrie Borowsky at hc-ads@haverford.edu or sborowsky@haverford.edu with any questions.
Housing Accommodations
If you believe you will need housing accommodations (including air conditioning and/or carpet-free) for the 2021-2022 academic year, please fill out a Housing Accommodation Request Form and submit supporting documentation to ADS by the June 22, 2021 deadline. This form, documentation guidelines and instructions for their submission, and other information can be found on the Housing Accommodations page of the ADS website.
If you have a disability and/or medical diagnosis for which air conditioning is a medical necessity, you must submit a Housing Accommodation Request Form. At this time, the request form is all that is required. If further information and documentation are needed, ADS will contact you.
Allergy and asthma conditions: If you are requesting housing accommodations, due to an allergy or asthma condition, you must print out and have your healthcare provider fill out a Verification of Disability Form for Housing Accommodation for Asthma and Allergy Conditions.
Academic and Other Accommodations
If you received accommodations in high school or other support services and want to receive accommodations in college then you will need to fill out the Voluntary Disability Disclosure and Accommodations Request Form as well as provide documentation.
If you require dining accommodations or any other accommodations related to a disability or medical condition, please fill the Voluntary Disability Disclosure and Accommodations Request Form as well as provide documentation.
The Documentation Guidelines and more information about receiving accommodations at Haverford can be found on the ADS website.
Forms and documentation should be submitted as soon as possible.
Housing Accommodation Request Deadline: June 22, 2021
Academic/Other Accommodations Deadline: Although accommodations can be requested at any time, to ensure that accommodations are in place prior to the start of the Fall semester please submit the Voluntary Disability Disclosure and Accommodations Request Form and documentation by August 1, 2021.
After Submission: Once your request forms and supporting documentation are received, Access and Disability Services will set up a time to speak with you over the phone or in person about accommodations.
