Early Decision and Regular Decision

All students applying for financial aid must submit two applications—the CSS Profile and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)*—plus provide 2023 tax documents from both the student and their parents to corroborate the data. Deadlines for meeting all financial aid requirements differ, depending on which admission process an applicant chooses.

All applicants must register an account with the College Board. This gives the applicant access to the CSS Profile application.

  • Early Decision I applicants must register no later than October 15, 2024.
  • Early Decision II applicants must register no later than December 1, 2024.
  • Regular Decision applicants must register no later than January 1, 2025

Complete the CSS Profile, FAFSA*, and submit all supporting documentation by the deadlines.

  • Early Decision I applicants, as soon as possible, but no later than November 15, 2024.
  • Early Decision II applicants, as soon as possible, but no later than January 5, 2025.
  • Regular Decision applicants, as soon as possible, but no later than January 10, 2025.

*Regarding the FAFSA:

Starting with the 2024-2025 academic year, the Federal Department of Education implemented sweeping changes to the FAFSA, and a lot of families experienced processing delays, as well as having difficulty completing the form. We are not sure how smoothly the process will go again for the 2025-2026 year. Be aware that no Haverford applicant will find their financial aid adversely affected by any of these issues. Haverford’s aid awards are based primarily on the CSS Profile, which is unaffected by changes to the FAFSA. Your financial aid application will be considered complete as long as all other requirements are met by the appropriate deadline. The FAFSA is not a requirement to complete your file, or to meet your financial aid deadline.

Supporting documentation includes, but may not be limited to, signed copies of the student’s and their parents’ 2023 federal tax returns, Puerto Rico or foreign tax returns, and all W-2 forms and tax schedules. These are to be sent to the College Board’s Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC). Do not send any tax documents directly to Haverford. See Submitting Supporting Documents (IDOC).

  • If your parents are single, divorced, or separated, you and the parent with whom you reside will complete the College Board CSS Profile application, and your noncustodial parent will complete a separate CSS Profile. It is recommended that you and your custodial parent start the CSS Profile application first, since the noncustodial parent will not be able to complete their own Profile until the student has selected a college that requires noncustodial parent information. Noncustodial parents will have to send a complete and signed copy of all pages of their 2022 U.S., Puerto Rico, or foreign tax returns, including all W-2 forms and tax schedules, to The College Board’s Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC). See Submitting Supporting Documents (IDOC).
  • All students are required to file any application for any grant program provided by their state government that can be used at a Pennsylvania institution.
  • Federal Verification. Some students applying for federal aid will be selected by the Department of Education (ED) for a process called “Verification.” This is a quality-control process. Haverford College verifies all students who are selected by ED and appear eligible to receive federal financial aid funding under the provisions of Title IV. Students selected will receive notice from both ED and Haverford College. Failure to submit the required documentation within 90 days of such notification may result in a cancellation of your eligibility for federal financial aid. No federal financial aid funds will be credited to your account until the verification process is complete. Common verification forms are below. Refer to the instructions you receive from Haverford to determine which forms you need to complete. If you are unsure, contact the Financial Aid Office.
