Event Calendar

This workshop series is open to all employees. Attendance at all four sessions is encouraged but not required. Each session happens twice on consecutive days, see the sign up for fall '23 FIE workshops form for more details!

  • Session one, Recognizing Identities and Cultivating Conversations:  In this session, we will reflect on our own identities and learn about how they shape our experiences with others. We will also begin to develop or enhance skills in open listening and communication for change.  
  • Session two, Building Integrative Awareness and Cultural Humility: This session encourages and supports participants as we develop and/or strengthen our individual and collective understandings of cultural/racial identity and explore ways of acknowledging and honoring difference. We will take responsibility for learning about and being empathetic to the experiences and perspectives of each member of our community. 
  • Session three, Doing the Work in Solidarity: This session helps us bridge communities by learning about collaborative space-making as well as building and sustaining equitable relationships, actions, and systems.
  • Session four, Applying the Foundations: In this session, we will focus on applying foundational inclusive education skills and knowledge. We will explore common micro/macro aggressions experienced by marginalized and multiply marginalized individuals and learn about structural and personal interventions that can be made to enhance equity and inclusion. Participants should expect to take an active part in scenario conversations in order to develop and enhance skills related to inclusive excellence awareness and best practices.
