Communal Dinner and Water Ceremony with Comedor Azul
Thursday, March 30th, 5-7pm
VCAM Lounge, Haverford College
Organized by artist Henry Morales
Please join us for a communal dinner and water ceremony hosted by Comedor Azul.
Consisting of multidisciplinary artists Leslie-Gomez-Gonzalez, Amaris Cruz-Guerrero, and Joaquin Stacey-Calle, Comedor Azul is a collective that lives and works in Miami, Florida. Their collective consists of a blue table that travels to different communities in efforts to share, listen, and sit together. Their practice is centered on reintroducing traditional foods through the decolonization of recipes and sharing of these meals. Which allows them to be in a living relationship to food – a reclaiming of Black and Indigenous food knowledge from their motherlands: Republica Dominicana, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, and Ecuador.
At this event, attendees will get to be part of a water ceremony followed by a meal gathering which will be held in the VCAM Kitchen/Lounge area. The meal will consist of foods such as guanimes, berenjena guisado, pollo guisado, moro de habichuelas, and locro de papas. There will be time in between events for everyone to decompress and relax. Construction paper and pens will be available for guests to write down any reflections. This event is intended as a moment to eat together and share collective stories with one another as a way to relax and recharge from the stressors of everyday life.
SPACE IS LIMITED! Please RSVP via QR code or this form to reserve your spot!
