8th Dimension organizes on-campus and off-campus service days, one-time events, informational panels, week-long service trips, and provides support for 8D’s network of student-run projects. The extensive and ever-growing network of student-run projects (which are led by volunteer project chairs) is a central component of 8D. These semi-autonomous programs are founded, organized, and run by Haverford students. Our office also provides other services, such as offering P.E. credit for volunteering and reimbursing travel expenses. Whether volunteering through 8D or not, transportation costs will never be a concern for you while volunteering at Haverford – 8D provides transportation reimbursement for all students who volunteer.
8th Dimension organizes frequent Service Days to provide one time volunteer opportunities for Haverford Students. Service Days cover a wide variety of activities and interests. In the past, they have included environmental clean-ups, housing and school improvement projects, Philadelphia AIDS walk, Walk Against Hunger, and Light the Night Walk (against Leukemia and Lymphoma).
More recently we have done service trips trips such as Mill Creek Farm, Books Through Bars, Pegasus Riding Academy, Philabundance, and more!
Service Days are a one-time commitment and free transportation is always provided. Some events, such as the AIDS Walk, may include a fundraising component.
Let us know if you are interested in doing one-time service trips by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’ll make sure to add you to the mailing list.
