Customs Teams
Please Note: Updated information for the Class of 2028 will be available in early June 2024.
Each Customs group is paired with a team of student leaders, each of whom specialize in providing resources and support for a specific aspect of new student life.
Peer Academic Facilitator (PAF)
The PAF provides general academic support to first year students such as learning about the ins and outs of Google Calendar, Bionic, and Moodle. They also might connect first year students with other older students in specific majors/departments or advise students on how to appropriately approach a professor for a specific problem or question.
Honor Code Orienteer (HCO)
The HCO provides an orientation to both the academic and social aspects of the Honor Code at Haverford. The HCO educates first year students on topics such as confrontation, cultural appropriation, and plagiarism while using archived Honor Council abstracts as a mode of instruction.
Residential Community Advisor (RCA)
The role of the RCA is to work with one another, Residential Life, other student leadership groups, and various departments of the College to facilitate an environment within the residence hall community that promotes respect, trust, responsibility, learning, self-reliance, self-care, and independence while also building community to create an enriched, residential living experience. The RCA in particular has the unique and important responsibility of, in part, building foundations for each first year student. RCAs do this by building an intimate community for a cohort of first year students, building individual, trusted relationships with each first year resident in the cohort, and promoting independence by encouraging first year students to pursue their educational and personal interests as they move through their first year and into their next years at Haverford.
Customs Co-Heads and Customs Committee
Customs teams are themselves supported by the Customs Co-Heads and Customs Committee, who together with the Student Engagement office design programs, trainings, and events for incoming students.
Customs Facilitator (CF)
The CF guides students through Customs Week, facilitates dialogues throughout the year to center racial equity, inclusion, and accessibility throughout the first year experience, and helps first-years connect with Affinity Groups!
