For Diane Moore ’20, working at WIT Strategy (WIT) is an opportunity to be on the forefront of the emerging field of advertising technology.

Based in New York City, WIT is a public relations and strategy firm that helps ad tech companies develop and execute communications strategies to leverage marketplace opportunities.

"I applied to this internship because advertising technology is a new and growing industry, especially as the world becomes more digital,” said Moore. “I was particularly interested in learning how to help companies devise business strategies and differentiate themselves in the marketplace.”

An economics major and music minor, Moore’s internship is made possible through the Center for Career and Professional Advising’s Whitehead Internship Program, which supports the work of rising juniors and seniors in the fields of investment finance, entrepreneurial endeavors, small-business enterprise, and venture capital. As an intern for WIT, Moore works on press releases and other communications to help clients assert their brands, though in the future she hopes to explore more opportunities on the business strategy end of a similar organization.

"I hoped to strengthen my writing skills and analytic capabilities, especially my ability to clearly articulate my thoughts,” she said.

While many of WIT’s team members telecommute, Moore finds herself eager to go into New York to work, in part because of her second part-time internship with Let’s Get Ready, a nonprofit that provides free SAT prep and college admissions counseling to low-income and first-generation high school students.

"As a site director with Let’s Get Ready, I manage 140 students and 23 volunteer college students who serve as coaches. I handle all program logistics, including recruiting students and coaches, serving as the first point of contact for the program, and managing a $5,000 budget,” said Moore. “I volunteered as a verbal coach at Let’s Get Ready’s Upper Darby site last semester and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, which caused me to pursue a summer position with the organization.”
