Michael B. Kim '85, Sheila K. Sachs, and Allan Richard White '81 join the Board.
Michael B. Kim'85 lives in Seoul, Korea, and is former president of Carlyle Asia Partners. He is currently establishing his own Asian buy-out firm. He has served on the board of directors of KorAm Bank, Taiwan Broadband Communications, Boto, Caribbean Holdings, and RAND's Center for Asia Policy. While at Haverford he majored in English, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and received his B.A. with honors. Michael earned his M.B.A. in 1990 from the Harvard Business School. He was also a Fulbright Fellow. He has hosted several alumni events in Seoul and was nominated to the Board by the Alumni Association Nominating Committee.
Sheila K. Sachs is an attorney with Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander, LLC, in Baltimore. She is a former president of the Bar Association of Baltimore City. She has served on various boards, including the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners and the Board of Trustees of Goucher College. Sheila was named one of Maryland's Top 100 Women and was selected as one of Baltimore's 30 best lawyers in the November 1998 issue of Baltimore Magazine. She attended Vassar College, received her B.A. in 1961 from Goucher College, and earned her J.D. in 1964 from the University of Maryland. Her children are Elisabeth A. Sachs, Haverford Class of 1987, and Leon Sachs, Haverford Class of 1989. Her husband is Stephen H. Sachs, Class of 1954. Sheila and Steve are members of the Committee of One Hundred.
Allan Richard White '81 is president of Minot Capital, LLC, a Boulder, Colorado-based investment firm providing global advisory services to institutional and family clients. While at Haverford, Rick majored in economics. He currently serves as vice chairman of the board of the Landmine Survivors Network, a Washington, D.C.-based organization dedicated to helping land-mine victims reclaim their lives. Rick also serves on the investment policy committee of the University of Colorado Foundation. He is a member of Purchase Friends Meeting in Purchase, N.Y.
