- Typically, students can only receive funding from one College sponsored source.
- The College will not fund projects in locations with a Level 4 travel warning from the U.S. State Department. Travel to locations with a Level 3 warning must be approved by the College’s Travel Council.
- The Travel Council recognizes that in some cases, study or experience abroad in the home country of an international student may be appropriate and desirable for research or internship opportunities. In cases that have been approved by the sponsoring office, such experiences are permitted, as long as the student formally acknowledges that the College's emergency travel insurance will not cover such a situation. Students will be required to sign a waiver confirming that they understand that the College will not be able to guarantee their evacuation, including return to Haverford to resume study, in a situation of crisis.
- International students (F-1) applying for College sponsored funding to intern at an organization in the U.S. must meet with Natasha Weisz very early in the intern application process in order to apply for the required F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT). Students who have not spoken to Natasha Weisz by early February will not be eligible to receive the college funding.
- Applicants must be currently enrolled students when applying and enrolled the semester after receiving the grant. Students on Dean's Leave are not eligible to apply for funding.
- Funding to support travel to a students’ home country or hometown from Haverford College for summer internships may be considered but is not guaranteed. Applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Major factors taken into consideration when reviewing requests include but are not exclusive of:
- opportunities not found elsewhere,
- benefit to their community,
- benefit to the organization,
- benefit to their curricular experience.

Haverford MI3 Internship and Project Assistantship (RA/PA) Program
Note: This opportunity is not being offered for Summer 2023 and will return for Summer 2024.
Funded by a foundation set up by a Haverford alum to encourage Haverford students to engage in an 8–10 week summer work experience related to social entrepreneurial endeavors and/or impact investing activities. The internship program fosters hands-on experiences, learning-by-doing, exposure to the nuts and bolts of starting up a business and mentorship by a leading entrepreneur in the field. The intent of the program is to provide appropriate stipends, and living expenses if necessary, for summer work experiences for which students might not otherwise receive the funding that their financial commitments require. It is designed for students who have completed their sophomore or junior year (rising juniors and rising seniors).
