Elizabeth Magnolia

#28 - Elizabeth Magnolia (Magnolia 'Elizabeth')

This magnolia is a hybrid between an American species and an Asiatic species developed at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in an attempt to have a yellow flower appear later in the season after damaging frosts. It was named after one of the garden's donors. Medium in size, the magnolia's creamy yellow flowers sit upright on the branch tips, then fade in intensity as they open. The dark green leaves follow.
