Developments & Updates
Work on the patio and pergola was completed in May of 2022.
Architectural and engineering work is underway towards the construction of a patio and pergola at the front of the building. Planning work will continue into the early spring, and then the College will engage a contractor for construction.
Phase 1 Complete (short-term improvements); Phase 2 (long-term planning for the future) Action Pending. The Spring 2021 semester focused on completing short-term improvements to the Ira DeA Reid house, including renovations to the kitchen and bathroom; window replacement; and creation of a memorabilia wall that preserves individual and collective experience. In fall 2021, Dean McKnight and interim Chief Diversity Officer Norm Jones will initiate conversations with students to explore options for the long-term future of the Black Cultural Center.
