What is your current job?
Senior Vice President at Shenkman Capital, an established firm that specializes in leveraged finance. I run the international business for the firm from our London office.
Why did you choose this profession?
I had an interest in financial markets and was drawn early on to the dynamics of asset management as opposed to banking.
What more do you wish to accomplish in your professional career?
My financial goal is to make enough money that I can gift meaningfully to Haverford. My longer term ambition is to serve in government as a political appointee representing the United States overseas.
Tell us about a decision or change you made that turned out to be a positive career move.
Obtaining an MBA from Columbia was the first game changer. Moving to Goldman Sachs the second. Finally, my migration to Asia and then London enabled me to have a truly global perspective.
How has Haverford influenced your professional career?
The values and consensus driven approach to decision making were two hallmarks I carry with me to this day. Learning to reason through to my own conclusions - even if unpopular - was another. Since most of my adult life has been lived internationally, this openness to the perspectives of others has always helped me navigate the world.
