Additional Course Info | Class Number: 1527 This course examines cities as sites of public health concern in modern American history. We consider the meaning of “public health” as a distinct domain of action, expertise, and authority by thinking historically about why certain health problems have attracted public attention while others are seen as matters of private responsibility, how some urban spaces become sites of medical concern while others are neglected, and how race, class, and gender shape urban health interventions.; Pre-requisite(s): HLTH H/B115, or any course in History, or permission of the instructor.; Enrollment Limit: 15; Lottery Preference: 1.)
