And how did it come to occupy such a central place in the politics and culture of our time? We will answer these questions by examining both, the persecution and mass murder carried out by the Nazi German regime between 1933 and 1945, as well as how subsequent generations have mad sense of what has come to be known as the Holocaust. Ultimately, the course will ask you to think about how the consciousness of the Holocaust affects the way we think about persecution and genocide in our own time.
