Course content varies.; Current topic description:This course is designed as a general introduction to A la Recherche du temps perdu, Proust’s baggy monster of a novel which, as a Künstlerroman (art apprenticeship novel) touches on many aesthetic subjects (music, poetry, painting, dance, architecture, photography, cinema) and, as a roman de formation (life apprentice novel), offers wonderful insights into the politics of relationships, with the self and with the others, especially around such topics as homosexuality, snobbishness and dilettantism.
