This course, taught in German, revisits the events of that watershed year and its enduring legacies in postwar German and European politics and history. Using literature and film, the course examines crucial topics including the student protest movement, the women’s movement, Prague Spring, protests against the Vietnam War, and the terrorist campaigns of the Red Army Faction in the 1970s that culminated in what is known as the German Autumn.
