Additional Course Info | Class Number: 2293 A study of the rich dramatic tradition of Spain from the Golden Age (16th and 17th centuries) to the 20th century within specific cultural and social contexts. The course considers a variety of plays as manifestations of specific sociopolitical issues and problems. Topics include theater as a site for fashioning a national identity; the dramatization of gender conflicts; and plays as vehicles of protest in repressive circumstances. Counts toward the Latin American, Latino and Iberian Peoples and Cultures Concentration. Prerequiste: SPAN B120; or another SPAN 200-level course. Critical Interpretation (CI). Inquiry into the Past (IP). Counts toward Latin American, Iberian and Latina/o Studies.; Course is limited to 12 students. Approach: Critical Interpretation (CI), Inquiry into the Past (IP); Haverford: A: Meaning, Interpretation (Texts) (A), Humanities (HU) Enrollment Cap: 12; If the course exceeds the enrollment cap the following criteria will be used for the lottery: Major/Minor/Concentration; Placement Exam; Permission of Instructor; This will be a synchronous, in-person course. That is, students who cannot be in class in person cannot take the course remotely. If circumstances change due to new safety requirements, we will all move to synchronous on-line teaching. |
