Additional Course Info | Class Number: 2269 This is a topics course. Course content varies.; We will be discussing silent cinema, with a major work from the silent era discussed each week (films directed by Eisenstein, Vertov, Chaplin, Keaton, Lang, among others). Students will have online access to all the films discussed throughout the semester. And all films (some Russian/Soviet, but also American, German, French, etc.) will have English intertitles. And all the readings (articles, essays) will be up on the course's Moodle site. Approach: Inquiry into the Past (IP), Writing Attentive; Haverford: Humanities (HU) ( ) The mode of delivery will be synchronous with in-person discussion during every class meeting that students can join virtually. The professor will also meet separately with those who take the course virtually at a time to be determined. |
