Additional Course Info | Class Number: 2251 This course will introduce students to the field of behavioral neuroscience. The first part of the course will familiarize students with the brain and neuronal communication. Then, we will delve into brain-behavior relationships. Topics covered will include: sex behavior, hunger, sleep, emotion, and psychopathology. Classic and state-of-the-art neuroscience research methodologies leading to this knowledge will be highlighted. Students will learn course content through lectures, readings, and digital media. To culminate the course, students will write a literature review on a topic of their choosing within the field of behavioral neuroscience. Lecture three hours a week. Prerequisite: Introductory Psychology (PSYC 105).; This course will introduce students to the field of behavioral neuroscience. (2017). Behavioral Neuroscience, 8th Edition (9th works too) Sinauer, Sunderland, MA. The textbook is recommended (but not required) for this class and is available in various formats (Ebook, loose-leaf, and softcover). Assignments will include: exams, literature review, and participation Approach: Course does not meet an Approach; Haverford: C: Physical and Natural Processes (C), Natural Science (NA) Enrollment Cap: 35; Post Bac seats reserved 2: If the course exceeds the enrollment cap the following criteria will be used for the lottery: Major/Minor/Concentration; Senior; Junior; Sophomore; Course is Tues/Fri 9:40 am- 11:00 Eastern Time Lectures will be prerecorded and uploaded so that students may watch them asynchronously. But, students will be expected to meet synchronously via zoom roughly once per week to discuss content. Journal clubs will also be synchronous (3 times during the semester). Exams will be delivered via moodle with 24 hours to complete. Literature review will be conducted remotely with access to journal articles via EZproxy through the Bryn Mawr Library website. Office hours will be available via zoom. |
