HLTH B115 will be taught in remote only format. While there are no synchronous full class meetings, our offering is built around structured small group virtual meetings led by facilitators dedicated to upholding our shared principles for classroom climate and student experience. Groups of 4 or 5 students will allow each student, regardless of timezone, conflicting synchronous courses, or other commitments to join. By combining learning modalities and building a format where students meaningfully engage with one another we hope to create an environment in which students use sources from across disciplines as well as experiences from their own lives and communities to enrich our virtual learning community. Small group discussions will be supplemented by short recorded lectures viewable at any time. Office hours will be held virtually at times mutually convenient for instructor and student. Enrolled students are not required to attend the Tuesday and Friday 11-12:30 meetings synchronously. The Tuesday time is reserved for instructors to meet with discussion facilitators without enrolled students. The Friday time is reserved for guest speakers who will visit the class virtually throughout the semester. While highly preferable for a student to attend these Friday guest talks synchronously to engage in conversation with the speaker, students unable to join during this time due to scheduling conflicts may still enroll in the course. If you have any questions about HLTH B115 please email Dr. Adam Williamson (awilliams6@brynmawr.edu) and Dr. Patty Kelly (pkelly@haverford.edu). |
