Additional Course Info | Class Number: 2131 A research workshop culminating in the writing and presentation of a senior thesis. Required of all majors; open to concentrators and others by permission.; This course is required for senior majors in East Asian Languages & Cultures at Bryn Mawr and Haverford. The focus of the seminar is the research and writing of the senior thesis, a scholarly investigation of a well-defined topic in 30 to 40 pages. Students will also prepare an end of semester presentation. While there is a good amount of workshopping and guidance from instructors throughout the semester, this is a course designed to encourage independence in research, writing, and editing for our seniors. Haverford: Humanities (HU) ( ) We will have synchronous meetings (remotely) approximately five times this semester as a whole class. Individual meetings will be scheduled between primary advisors and advisees in groups of 1 or 2 at a time. Thus meetings will be regularly scheduled via Zoom, but with some degree of flexibility to accommodate both students' and instructors' schedules. Students will participate in peer review assignments with partners, and can set their own schedules, so long as these occur during the assigned week. The final presentations will be a recorded slide presentation with narration, details on this to be discussed during the course. Students should have access to a laptop or tablet with microphone and camera functionality. |
