Additional Course Info | Class Number: 2838 This course explores the art and architecture of ancient Rome from the Republic through the Empire. By focusing on specific topics, such as residences, markets, religious life, death and entertainment, and by surveying a rich variety of available evidence that spans from architectural remains, inscriptions and monuments to paintings, architectural sculpture and mosaics, the course highlights the importance of art historical and archaeological inquiry for our understanding of urban life and experience in one of the greatest cities of the ancient world.
