Placement in Writing Seminars

Below you will find links to a letter that explains the placement process for writing seminars, instructions for the placement essay, the online seminar preference and essay submission form, and a guide to writing seminars being offered. (The selected text that you are asked to write about in your placement essay is included in the "Placement Essay Instructions.) Preferences and your own essay are due July 15, 2012. We look forward to hearing from you.

When assigning students to sections, the Writing Program will consider several factors: your own appraisal of your writing competency; your preferences for particular courses; SAT verbal and SAT II Writing scores; and the placement essay. We will inform you of your placement during the week before you arrive on campus.
