One section of the Nature Trail is closing April 29 for construction.
Facilities Management is about to start work on a project that will improve the stream from the Duck Pond to near the Visitor’s lot. This is to preserve and protect the stream bed and surrounding areas. To accomplish this work, a section of the Nature Trail will be closed starting Monday, April 29, for approximately two weeks. Trail detour signs will be placed on Monday to guide you around the construction site.
During this phase of the project a contractor will move in with heavy equipment to move dirt and rocks to re-form the stream channel and restore the grades along the stream banks. This part of the process will appear somewhat destructive, but essential if we are to protect the stream bed for the long term. The contractor will then fill in the banks with many small plants and in time the area will grow back to its woodland state, serious erosion problems averted.
We ask for your patience and understanding during this brief construction period while we protect our campus. Should you have any questions, please contact Bill Astifan at Facilities Management 610-896-1101.
