5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.: Opening Reception
Ying Li uses high volumes of oil paint to depict the landscape. Working from a deep engagement with the material and visual possibilities of painting, she builds a visceral connection with place. No Middle Way reflects her working attitude, in which she enters full-force into unfamiliar territory, literal and artistic, employing observations, memories, art historical knowledge and pure instinct as she constructs pictures that delight and surprise.
