Summer Study Abroad Programs

If you wish to study abroad during the summer, follow the procedures outlined in the Haverford College Course Catalog, and then contact your Dean to review these procedures. Summer Study Abroad is not under the oversight of the International Academic Programs office. The application for Summer School Credit can be found at the Registrar's website.
In most cases, Haverford will award credit for courses taken at any of the summer programs on the semester/year Approved List. Students must apply for summer school credit in advance. Credits cannot be awarded retroactively.
Students wishing to study Chinese Language in the summer must contact Prof. Shizhe Huang.
NTU Bi-Co International Summer School in China Programme
The inaugrual run of the joint Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Bi-Co International Summer School in China is now open for application! The Programme is open to all Bi-Co students in their second or third year, especially those with an interest in Asian studies and China. This is a five-week summer programme, including a one-week study tour, for selected students from NTU, Chinese partner universities, and Bryn Mawr and Haverford College.

Nota Bene: Two summer programs offered under the auspices of Bryn Mawr College have been pre-approved for credit, provided students complete the form in advance:
Bryn Mawr: Summer Study in Pisa is a six week summer program in the language, literature, culture and art of Italy offered under the auspices of Bryn Mawr College. Classes are offered at the University of Pisa, one of Europe's oldest universities, and are tailored toward beginning, intermediate or advanced students of Italian and students interested in art. Courses are taught by Bryn Mawr College and University of Pisa faculty. It is the only summer program that fulfills Haverford's language requirement. In abeyance for Summer 2012.
Bryn Mawr: Summer Study in Pisa
Bryn Mawr: Institut d'études Françaises d'Avignon is a summer program of intensive work in significant aspects of French culture.The program is open to male and female students from other colleges and from Bryn Mawr. Applicants for admission must have strong academic records and have completed a course in French at a third-year college level or the equivalent.

Haverford's Fine Arts Department has approved this program for Haverford credit.
New: Dickinson College is pleased to offer eight summer programs for 2012 open to qualified, undergraduate students. Several programs join Dickinson's strong global education network abroad with its award-winning sustainability education program (Dickinson was named Sierra Magazine's #2 "Green School" in 2010); these programs focus on various aspects of environmental, economic and social sustainability. Applicants must have a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA (4.0 scale) and may be required to meet minimum language pre-requisites for language immersion programs (*). All program fees include tuition, full room and board, in-country transportation, excursions and emergency medical insurance. Applications will be reviewed until March 1, 2012.

- Rothberg International School Summer Programs
The University of Haifa Summer Language Programs are powerful academic and cultural experience for students of all nationalities and ages. Located minutes away from the Mediterranean Sea, amidst the Mt Carmel National Forest, students will enjoy an intense academic experience as well as enjoy the best of Israel's beaches and hiking trails.
