Programs: Universities of Oxford & Cambridge Fees
Students pay regular tuition to Haverford College, which will then be responsible for paying the program directly. Students make their own transportation arrangements.
Room and board fees depend on the particular college. For some programs, students pay Haverford room fees and partial board or just room fees to Haverford College. At Fitzwilliam and Pembroke Cambridge, in most cases, students are responsible for their own room and board fees (i.e., they pay only tuition to Haverford and pay room and board directly to Cambridge). St. Edmund Hall has a partial board fee that includes 50 dinners per term. Students attending Mansfield, Lady Margaret Hall, St. Peter's, or Pembroke Oxford pay room fees to Haverford; students are responsible for their own food.
Financial aid is available for eligible students, although some priority may be given to those whose major programs most depend on foreign study. Students must fill out Haverford's Application to Study Abroad by October 5th (for second semester leave), or February 5th (for first semester or year's leave). Students must also see David Hoy and fill out the appropriate financial aid forms by April 20th of the preceding year.
Because we will have to pay the entire tuition fees in advance, should you withdraw from the program, we may not be able to refund your tuition. We must adhere to the tuition policies of each institution. Even in medical emergencies, if there is no refund forthcoming from the individual college to which you were accepted, Haverford will make no refund. You may want to consider obtaining tuition insurance, available in the Business Office. A fee will be levied for students who withdraw. A non-refundable $500.00 deposit payable to Haverford College is required of all applicants. The fee will be credited to the tuition to those who are accepted. Refunds are made only to those students who are not accepted to study.
Again, for all partner colleges (Pembroke and Fitzwilliam at Cambridge and Pembroke, Mansfield, St. Edmund Hall, Lady Margaret Hall, and St. Peter's at Oxford), students are required to go if accepted.
Nota Bene: Students interested in Oxford or Cambridge should note that for designated partner colleges, the application is a binding contractual agreement--that is, once submitted and accepted, students are required to go to the program. A fee of $1,500 in addition to the $350 will be levied for a withdrawal from Oxbridge, regardless of the reason. Students will not be permitted to return to Haverford if they leave the program.
