"Self-reliance is the only road to true freedom, and being one's own person is its ultimate reward." - Patricia Sampson
Dear Prospective Haverford Student,
I'm pretty obsessed with Haverford and have been ever since I first stepped onto the campus at age thirteen. It's one of those magical places that just grabs your heart from the very first instant and won't let go.
When it came time for me to decide on a college/university, I knew exactly what I wanted: a place that felt so right that I would hear angels singing from the heavens. (Alright, not exactly, but something close to that at the very least.) Needless to say, Haverford delivered. When I returned for a campus visit during the spring of my senior year of high school, Haverford was just as magical, beautiful, and inspiring as it was when I first visited it four years prior. Talk about making a good first impression!
I could go on and on about the merits of Haverford, and I still wouldn't do it any justice. Simply put, Haverford is a special place. I guess it comes as no surprise that the students, faculty, and staff who are drawn to such a place could be described in much the same way: special. I'm proud to be a part of an institution that cares as much about cultivating people of character as it does people with strong minds.
Anyone who finds themselves privileged enough to belong to the Haverford community at some point in their lifetime is an extremely lucky person, indeed. I hope you'll seriously consider becoming a part of it.
Sincerely,
Samantha Joy Fay, '14
P.S. Feel free to e-mail me with questions. I'd be more than thrilled to tell you about Haverford, my experience here, or whatever else you'd like to know.
