Welcome to my page. Thank you for visiting and feel free to contact me via email.
I am a senior majoring in Classical Culture & Society (Haverford College) and minoring in Archaeology (at Bryn Mawr College). I am a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow and I am working towards becoming a professor in the field of Archaeology. I attended the Mellon Summer Research Institute at University of Chicago during the summer of 2008, where I completed my writing proposal titled: Who is the Real Clytaemnestra?; a discussion of gender constructs in ancient literature, as well as modern feministic and Classicist theory, and the use of material culture in constructing a gendered narrative of female and male identity.
I have recently returned from four months studying abroad in Athens, Greece with the College Year in Athens program (D.I.K.E.M.E.S.), where I continued studies in my two fields of interest.
This upcoming winter break (December 9-January 1), I will be participating in an Archaeological excavation at the site of Muweilah in Sharjah, U.A.E. I will be learning the basics of excavation, recording, stratigraphic interpretation, and post-excavation analysis. My work will be split between the field site and the museum of the Iron Age site of Muweilah.
During my time at Haverford College I have participated in various extra-curricular activities including: Black Students League (current), Housing Committee (current), Upperclassmen Advisor (current), Search Committee for the Dean of Multicultural Affairs (current), Ambassador of Mulitcultural Awareness Co-Head, Women of Color, SAGA, and many others. I currently am employed as a the assistant to the Housing Director in the Dean's Office here at Haverford, as well as the Student Assistant to the Administrative Assistant of the Provost.
My thesis is titled: Beware of Zeus Bearing Gifts: Gods, Gifts, and Greeks. I am focusing on exploring the dynamics of reciprocity and gift exchange in Homer and Hesiod as it deals with gods, demi-gods, and mortals. I have recently given a talk on this subject at the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Regional Conference at Cornell University.
