Welcome, visitor!
I'm a junior here at Haverford, hailing from the fantastic city of Washington DC.
In the academic world, I'm a Comparative Literature and Latin double major. Some of the topics that interest me the most are translation and adaptation, mythology, and the modern influence of the classical tradition. During the summer of 2010 and the '10-'11 school year, I worked as a Research Assistant for Professor Bret Mulligan, dealing with topics from declamation in Ancient Roman rhetorical education to the history of the Haverford Classics department.
I'm also interested in museums, and spent the summer of 2011 as a Curatorial Intern at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, with the help of Haverford's Hurford Center for the Arts and Humanities. There, I worked in the department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs helping a curator with a show that showcased works on paper by young, local artists. You can read more on that exhibition here, or read more about the internship experience here. Since the summer, the Humanities Center has provided me with train tickets to go into Philly each week to continue volunteering at the museum. If you're thinking about coming to Haverford, know that the Humanities Center is awesome and you should definitely check out their programming while you're a student here.
Outside the classroom, I keep busy with a number of activities: I'm the Officer of Campus Life on Students' Council this year, a member of the Mainliners a cappella group, a Tour Guide for the Admissions Office, and a student worker for the Instructional and Information Technology Services ProDesk. I'm also the co-editor of the Haverford Journal, a student-run journal of undergraduate scholarship produced on campus.
Another interest of mine is theater, and since coming to Haverford I've been in Bi-Co productions of the "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged" and "Urinetown: The Musical" over at Bryn Mawr. This coming semester, I'm hoping to try to organize a Bi-College One-Act Play festival, and if that's a project you're interested in being involved with, please get in touch!
To incoming and perspective students, as well as anyone else, feel free to get in contact with me if you have any questions about any of the things that I'm up to, groups I've mentioned here, or just life at Haverford in general - you'll find my email address up to the right.
