Welcome, visitor!
I'm a senior here at Haverford, hailing from the fantastic city of Washington DC.
In the academic world, I'm a Comparative Literature and Latin double major. Some of the topics that interest me the most are translation and adaptation, mythology, and the modern influence of the classical tradition. During the summer of 2010 and the '10-'11 school year, I worked as a Research Assistant for Professor Bret Mulligan, dealing with topics from declamation in Ancient Roman rhetorical education to the history of the Haverford Classics department.
I'm also interested in museums, and spent the last two summers interning at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (summer 2011) and the Whitney Museum of American Art (summer 2012), with the help of Haverford's Hurford Center for the Arts and Humanities. (If you're thinking about coming to Haverford, know that the Humanities Center is awesome and you should definitely check out their programming while you're a student here.) At the PMA, I worked in the department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs helping a curator with a show that showcased works on paper by young, local artists. You can read more on that exhibition here, or read more about the internship experience here. Since that summer, the Humanities Center has provided me with train tickets to go into Philly each week during the academic year to continue volunteering at the museum. At the Whitney, I interned in the Publications department, helping to edit catalogues, exhibition text, brochures, and other ephemera, and assisting with project management work. More on that experience can be found here.
Outside the classroom, I keep busy with a number of activities: I'm a member of and webmaster for the Mainliners a cappella group, a co-editor of Body Text//Margin (student-run academic journals), a Tour Guide for the Admissions Office, and a student worker for the Instructional and Information Technology Services ProDesk.
In the past, I've served as Officer of Campus Life on Students' Council, written for the Bi-College News, and acted in Bi-Co productions of the "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged" and "Urinetown: The Musical" over at Bryn Mawr.
To incoming and perspective students, as well as anyone else, feel free to get in contact with me if you have any questions about any of the things that I'm up to, groups I've mentioned here, or just life at Haverford in general - you'll find my email address up to the right.
