Making the world a better place...it seems a lofty goal, but each of us can do what we can toward that end, and combined, we can make a world of difference.
I'm an employee in Haverford's department of Administrative Computing, a part of the College Information Resources (CIR). Primarily I create web forms that interact with a database. Sounds fun, huh? It is to me.
My most recent interest is "geocaching" (http://www.geocaching.com), which is sort of like a technology-enabled treasure hunt. You visit the geocaching website, enter a zip code for an area where you'd like to search for hidden "caches", then a list of them will be displayed (hey, it's a form interacting with a database....makes my job seem a little cooler, eh?). For each cache, you are given the longitude and latitude which you then have to enter into a GPS (Global Positioning System--the stuff that allows cars with navigation map systems to work) program. I use a program called cotoGPS. I run the program on my Treo 700p. It guides me to the location specified by the latitude and longitude, and once there, I have to search "manually" for the cache. I've just started out with geocaching, and so far it seems pretty neat.
I'm married with a daughter. I enjoy bicycling, roller blading, cooking, tennis, and probably a lot of other things, too. :-)

My kid.
