As part of National Bike Month, all members of the Haverford community are encouraged to go by bike on May 13! Bring your bike to the 1st annual Go by Bike Festival. Free bike safety checks, healthy snacks and cycling maps will be available.
Faculty & Staff: Ride your bike to work or around campus!
Students: Ride your bike to Bryn Mawr College or into town!

Smart Cycling 101
Three Part Course
Location: CPGC Cafe and On Road
This three-part bicycling course developed by the League of American Bicyclists will give you the skills and confidence to ride safely in traffic. Mr. Madera, a League certified instructor, will teach the class in two in-class sessions and one road session.
Mr. Madera will focus on commuting and shopping by bike, equipment needs, traffic laws and principles, and crash avoidance maneuvers.
Please Note: class size is limited to 15 participants and to participate in the road session, you must have attended both class sessions. Please email hc-gobybike@haverford.edu to register.

Want to know how to fix a flat? Learn how to do that and more with Kevin Meehan, owner of M & M Two Wheelers in Bryn Mawr, PA.
Mr. Meehan will teach you basic maintenance skills like how to inspect and adjust your brakes and gears. He will also teach you how to
fix flats and make bearing adjustments.

Kevin Meehan, owner of M & M Two Wheelers in Bryn Mawr, is a graduate of the Barnett Bicycle Institute and has over four years of experience as a bike mechanic. Mr. Meehan is also a member of the National Bicycle Dealer Association, League of American Bicyclists, and Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia. A lifetime cycling enthusiast, Mr.Meehan has participated in 22 consecutive American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thons and 15 City to Shore Bike Tours.
A Sustainable Transportation Future

Transportation is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and a major cause of climate change. Transportation planner John Madera will describe the current state of affairs and how we can get to a sustainable transportation future. Madera’s talk will cover ongoing sustainability efforts from the global to the local, presenting examples from around the world of efforts to reduce transportation’s carbon footprint while re-animating cities.
John Madera is a city planner based in Media, PA. A member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the Transportation Research Board of the National Academy of Science, and the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals, Mr. Madera has more than a quarter century of experience in planning bicycle and pedestrian transportation, transportation demand management, urban redevelopment, and sustainable food systems. A recreational and commuting bicyclist since his undergraduate days at Clemson University during the 1970s, Madera now pursues a car-free lifestyle.
