I have taught in the Haverford College Spanish Department since 1987, when I was appointed Lecturer. In 1992 I became an Assistant Professor. I started teaching in Argentina at the High School level and from 1977 on I taught, as an Instructor, while completing my studies at Rice University, the University of California at San Diego, and the University of Pennsylvania. I finished my Ph.D. at Penn with a dissertation on the New Historical Latin American Novel. I focused on the novels of Argentinean writer Abel Posse.

Research Interests

Connections between Literature and History, particularly of the 20th Century. Film Studies, with emphasis on Latin American film production. Women and film (Actresses- Directors). Women writers from Latin American and Spain. Women as historical subjects in Latin America. 20th Century Theater.
