Summary

The following is not meant to be a literal translation, but rather a summary to provide the main idea of the song.

As soon as La mujer --the woman-- woke up, she went directly to the kitchen to start her daily chores: she prepared breakfast, woke up her husband and children, fed everyone, took some of the children to school, etc. Then, she went to the market where she saw other women who were busy working, doing their errands, shopping, and so forth. She felt a connection with them, as if they were her friends. She bought vegetables and stood in line to get tortillas. At some point, one of her sons (Francisco) cried due to a stomach ache; she also had to give medicine to Mercedes, one of her daughters. Back home from the market, she cleaned the house, made the beds, and started cooking again for dinner, after which she put the children to bed, washed the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, took the trash out, etc. Just as the house was quiet and everything was in order, her husband walked in, exhausted after a full day of hard work. The woman and her husband chatted about their children and neighbors, his boss, and whatever else happened during the day. They laughed and were tender with each other. She, then, closed the door, went to bed, and fell asleep immediately, putting to rest all her pains and aches caused by life's aggravations...
