About the Conference |
|
Coming at a point when oil prices are increasing exponentially, and conflicts over energy resources are looming on the horizon, this Conference will breed a more sophisticated knowledge of energy issues, and more importantly, potential solutions to the global energy problem. The Conference aims to have a two-fold benefit: one, to the students of Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges, along with other students and community members in the area by increasing their knowledge and awareness of the various complications and nuances associated with framing a more effective energy security policy. Like any other Conference, this Conference will help establish contact between students with similar interests at Haverford and other colleges, as well as expose them to the work of academics and activists in these fields. This will be a great opportunity for the students and faculty members to initiate greater collaboration among each other and with outside experts and institutes in these fields. We also expect that the vast variety of experts that we invite to speak at the Conference will benefit from the insights provided by their fellow Conference participants and that the exchange of ideas will be two-way rather than flowing only from the speakers to the audience.
