Policies & Procedures: Helpful Hints
Develop the habit of locking your door and windows when you are away from your room, and always lock your door when you retire at night. If you see something of a suspicious nature, please contact Safety & Security immediately at 610-896-1111 or use one of the blue light emergency phones located outside of the dorms and throughout the campus. Any theft, robbery, or assault should be reported to Safety & Security immediately.
If you expect to be away from campus for any length of time, such as a weekend or longer, make sure you tell your roommate(s) as well as at least one of your Customs People and/or your UCA about your plans. Customs groups are rather like families; the members care about each other!
Get to know and seek the assistance of your Customs People (CP) and your Upperclass Advisor (UCA). They have "been there" and are committed to helping you.
When you meet your new roommate or members of your hall group or floor, be sure to set aside time to discuss your individual living styles. It will be easier for all of you throughout the year if you come to an early agreement concerning quiet study times, stereo levels, smoking, and the like.
Within several days of your arrival, please e-mail, write, or call your parents or guardians to let them know how you are doing and give them your telephone number. Every fall we receive calls from parents or guardians who haven't heard from new students and are very concerned that something may be wrong.
