Female circumcision is not a Islamic practice, and it is not
supported by either the Qur'an, the Hadith, or the Sunna. Despite
this fact, many people, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, often
associate female circumcision with Islam. While female circumcision
is practiced in some predominantly Islamic areas such as the Sudan
and Egypt, it is also practiced in non-Islamic African
cultures.
