Misrepresentation of the "Born Rich"
We enjoyed the most recent issue of the Haverford Alumni Magazine focusing on the fine arts at Haverford. Our alumni should know that this fall the chemistry department is offering a course for non-scientists on the Chemistry of Art. Charles Miller, who has taught a popular course for non-scientists on Chemistry (and Politics) of the Atmosphere, is on leave this year. His replacement, Valerie Walters, is teaching a course on Chemistry of Art and Artifacts in its place. The course covers light and color, pigments, paintings and frescos, dyes and tapestries, and copper, bronze, and marble sculptures. The students in the class gave poster presentations on December 3 and 5 in the Zubrow Commons.
