The Final

Course procedures. This is intended to be an advanced seminar concerned with the history, social context, diagnosis, and treatment of psychopathology, with special emphasis on the "psychodynamic" tradition beginning with Freud. I expect each of you to keep up with the reading for each class, and most classes will consist of group discussion. Some of the readings for the course will be available as hypertextual links to this syllabus, and most classes will have associated on-line lecture notes and suggestions for discussion, so some geek skills are useful. This syllabus itself will change as we proceed, so you should access the Web version before each class.

Optional Practicum. For those of you who are interested, I will try to help arrange volunteer work in a nearby clinical setting, and I will meet with you during the semester to discuss your experiences.

If you have questions or concerns about this class, please see me after class or send me email.

Reading assignments and topics for each class meeting are at the end of this page, as is the program for the final exam.
