Wendy Sternberg named new Associate
Provost
Together with members of Academic Council and Steve Emerson, I
am very pleased to announce that Wendy
Sternberg, Professor of Psychology, has agreed to accept the
position of Associate Provost, for a three-year term, beginning
July 1, 2008.
Wendy has been a member of our faculty since 1995, and has served
as Chair of the department of Psychology on two occasions, for the
2002-2003 academic year and since 2004. An accomplished international
scholar in the field of pain research, Wendy is a valued leader
in the Haverford community. Wendy has served the College as an elected
member of Academic Council and the Presidential Search Committee,
and is currently the Middle States re-accreditation co-chair. A
2003 recipient of the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Teaching
Award, Wendy is a star teacher broadly recognized for her dedication
to our students. A model scholar-teacher, and a highly respected
and trusted colleague, Wendy brings intelligence, drive, institutional
expertise and personal warmth to her new job as Associate Provost.
I am honored that Wendy has accepted my invitation to serve Haverford
in this important way.
