Peace, Justice, and Human Rights/Peace and Conflict Studies

Haverford College is seeking a faculty member at the rank of advanced assistant professor or above for a tenure-track position in Peace, Justice, and Human Rights/Peace and Conflict Studies (PJHR/PCS) to start in the fall of 2009.  Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a social science discipline with an area studies focus and a proven record of excellence in teaching and scholarship.  The successful candidate is expected to play a formative role in developing a multi-disciplinary program that will address issues of pressing international concern, including the intellectual and cultural foundations of human rights and justice claims, the social, political and economic dynamics of inequality, and the diversity of ways in which violence and peace have been studied, experienced, and addressed.  The person hired for this position will teach at all levels of the curriculum and must be able to provide students with strong intellectual foundations and guidance for both field research and analysis.  Send letter of application, CV, statements of research plans and teaching philosophy, a syllabus for a current or proposed course, at least one scholarly publication, and three letters of recommendation by November 21 to Search Administrative Assistant Merleen Macdonald, 370 Lancaster Ave., Haverford College, Haverford, PA 19041 (e-mail inquiries to hc-peacesearch@haverford.edu).
