Name: Polarization of Scattered Light

Category: Optics

Subcategory: Polarization

Comments: As light shines through a tank filled with water, sodium thiosulfate, and HCL, the light scattered through the side of the tank is polarized differently than the light scattered through the top. One can obtain interesting effects by placing a polarizer between the light source and the tank. (Also, the scattered light is bluish and the transmitted light is red.)
