The demonstration consists of two circular metal plates with handles. One side of each plate is ground to uniform smoothness. Place a drop or two of water on the smooth face of one plate. Bring the plates together and turn plates to spread the water uniformly over the surfaces. Pull the plates apart and note the force required.
