We are providing the homework solutions to you electronically this
semester on a trial basis. Our two main objectives in going electronic
are (a) to make the solutions more accessible than simply putting a copy
on reserve in the library, which we also are doing, and (b) to save paper
by not having to make a paper copy for every student in the class.
So that we may meet these goals, we'd like you to
do a couple of things for us. First, we'd like you to give the electronic
version a shot. Instead of just printing it all out anyway, use the
solutions to correct the problems that you got wrong and to see if
there are other ways of seeing the problem that had not occurred to you.
Most of you get most of the problems right anyway, so another set of the
solutions is largely superfluous. (At least, we think that may be the case.
If it's not, we'd like to hear about it.)
Second, if you hate computers or computers hate you and, for whatever
reason, you really would like to have the
solutions on paper, let us know and we'll give you a copy. Of course, we
realize that no paper will be saved if everyone in the class goes and
prints their own single-sided copy from the web, so we'll be happy to
provide you with a double-sided copy. Not only do you save paper that
way, but you also get a copy of much higher resolution. Don't be
afraid to ask for a copy if it will prevent you from printing your own.
It benefits both you and us. Just send email or ask in person,
preferably before the Friday after you've turned in the HW.
Third, please take a moment to fill in the survey form below. Thanks!
