Adjacent to Merion Golf Course and close to other major championship hosts Aronimink, Llanerch and Philadelphia, Haverford recently resumed intercollegiate golf after a decade's absence. In 1999, the men defeated varsity opponents in spring dual matches then traveled to large fall tournaments. Hoping to field a full women's golf team soon, advisor John Douglas welcomes both single-digit and high-handicappers in the coed club. Golfers may play practice rounds at Cobbs Creek Golf Course (1916), Golfweek's 6th-ranked municipal course in the nation, or carry a shag bag to the Pinetum -- an on-campus driving range and sand bunker surrounded by evergreens.
