EarthQuakers
EarthQuakers is the main student-run environmental club on campus. We hold on- and off-campus events to raise awareness about environmental issues, increase environmental conscientiousness, and decrease our environmental impact.
In Spring 2012, our goals included increasing energy efficiency through awareness campaigns and working with the administration, improving Haverford's food systems, and decreasing our waste impact. We held weekly meetings and had members choose various projects to work on.
We investigated the possibility of removing paper towels, replacing them with cubbies, hooks, and shelves in dorm bathrooms and with air dryers in public spaces. We helped with Local Foods Week, a Tri-Co event that occurred the week of March 19. We worked to improve electricity conservation, and we signed up for TerraCycle, an alternative recycling collection program that could allow collection of waste such as writing utensils, chip bags, candy wrappers, energy bar wrappers, and bath and body products.
We currently meet on Thursdays at 9:30 in the Campus Center, Room 205C. All are welcome!
