Bellydancing Club
Yalah! was founded in 2006 by Julianne Rieders (BMC '10). It is the official Bi-Co Bellydancing Club and regularly participates in large Bi-Co events, such as the Fall Student Dance Concert and May Day. The name of the club is derived from the Arabic word "Yallah", which means "Let's go!". The club meets weekly to learn different dances which incorporate traditional styles. Bellydancing is a sensual art form that boosts confidence while appreciating culture, not to mention getting superb exercise. After a few weeks of practice at the beginning of each semester, auditions will be held for those who are interested in becoming a member of the "Yalah! Dance Team", which will perform in the Fall Student Dance Concert, the Yalah! Showcase, and May Day, among other events. These auditions are open to students of the Bi-Co (Bryn Mawr and Haverford). The Yalah! Dance Team bonds together not only as dancers, but as friends as well. We have several social events together as a team.
