WHOM to CONTACT

This page is a brief outline of the people in Haverford's administration who play important roles in the services provided to students with disabilities.

Office of Disabilities Services; Counseling and Psychological Services

Located on the 3rd floor of Founders Hall (Room 319), the Office of Disabilities Services (ODS) and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offer a wide range of services, including free counseling for students.

Admission Office

The Admission Office is located on the 2nd floor of Whitehead Campus Center. Prospective students should not feel they must reveal the existence of a disability during the admission process. However, should an applicant or potential student wish to do so, the information will be held in confidence by the Admission Office. If admission acceptance and matriculation follows, the information will then be forwarded to the Coordinator of Disabilities Services. See Haverford's Disablities Policy for more information or visit the Admission Office website.

The Deans

Each student is assigned to a dean based on the first letter of the student's last name. Deans serve as one of a student's key advisors about any matter relating to her or his Haverford experience, academic or otherwise. The Deans' offices are located on the second floor of Chase Hall. The fax number for any Dean is 610-896-4960.

Committee on Student Standing and Performance (CSSP)

CSSP deals with all requests for flexibility regarding academic requirements, including the approval of accommodations for students with disabilities. Professors, administrators, and students compose the membership of the committee. For more information regarding CSSP and Disabilities Services, please see our policy on Disabilities at Haverford.

Health Services

Located on campus in Morris Infirmary, the staff at Health Services deals with a wide array of the medical problems and issues that students have. If urgent, a nurse can be reached "after hours" by calling Safety & Security at 610-896-1111. When appropriate, the Coordinator of Disabilities Services will consult with the Director of Health Services to discuss the evaluation and recommendation for accommodations of a student with a disability.

Student Housing

First-year students are assigned housing. Upperclass students acquire housing for the academic year through the weighted lottery system known as "Room Draw". Some students with disabilities need special housing and are exempt from this process to guarantee that appropriate residential space can be secured for them. The Housing Office is located in Chase Hall.
