Contact & Staff
Our officers and staff come from a variety of backgrounds and are dedicated to serving the campus community.
Michael is a sophomore from Moorestown, New Jersey. He is currently studying biology hoping to branch that into bioengineering and biotechnology, especially as it relates to the medical field. He is a member of Haverford’s varsity cricket team and plays lacrosse or swims in his spare time. Michael is mostly excited about being a part of the OAR because he feels it is an integral part of the cooperative and supportive environment at Haverford.
Grace is a junior from Ann Arbor, Michigan and is thrilled to be a part of the OAR team. She is currently studying abroad in Denmark. On campus, she is a part of the Quaker Bouncer board and involved with Greasepaint theater productions. As of now, she is interested in East Asian Studies and Psychology. In her spare time, Grace enjoys singing loudly in the shower, sending snail mail, and wearing Birkenstocks with socks all around campus!
Kayla is a junior from the Bronx, NY. Though undecided, her academic interests include classical studies, psychology, and East Asian studies. She is a Chesick Scholar and is excited to contribute her experiences to the OAR. In her spare time, Kayla enjoys baking and watching Japanese horror movies with her friends.
Laura Newman Eckstein
Laura Newman Eckstein is a junior at Haverford College. An anthropology major, she worked on a research project entitled "Food of Incarceration: A New Way of Life for Japanese Americans," focusing on changing societal values for Japanese Americans due to the War Relocation Centers. While not working at the OAR or studying, Laura is involved in Earth Quaker Action Team, ETHOS, and Women's Ultimate Frisbee. Originally, Laura is from Portland, Oregon where she helps her family with their urban farm.
Erick is a junior from Los Angeles, CA. He is planning on majoring in Political Science and/or Religion. In past summers Erick was a research assistant for Professor Tracey Hucks of the Religion Department and was part of the Chesick Scholars Program. In his spare time, Erick enjoys mixing music, jogging, and watching movies with his friends.
Tiantong (Alex) Wang
Although he spent his high school years in Chicago, Tiantong (Alex) Wang is originally from Shenzhen, China. Alex is currently planning to double major in Growth and Structure of Cities and Math because he wants to pursue architecture after his undergraduate years. He is co-founder of the Haverford Calligraphy Club and one of the leaders of the Haverford Outdoors Club (HavOC). In his spare time, he likes playing cello and reading books. He enjoys working at the OAR because he believe that it is a place not only for academic but also for personal improvement.
