About Squirrelmail Folders

Making folders in squirrelmail is an easy way to organize your mail and improve the performance of your squirrelmail account. By keeping your inbox slim through folders, your Haverford College email will load faster. You can store up to 2 Gb in your folders. The follwing instructions detail how to:

Create a Folder

1. Click on Folders link at top of page or the Add Folders link in upper right corner.

2 . Under the Create Folder section, in the text box write in the name of your new folder. If you want it to be a subfolder of an existing folder, select the existing folder from a drop down list (ex: you want a folder for “Angela” inside your “Friends” folder, so make sure to select “Friends” from the down list next to the create button when you create the “Angela” folder.

3 . Click the Create folder button
4 . In your list of folders in the left side column, click on the refresh folders list link. Your new folder should appear.

Rename a Folder


1. Click on Folders link at top of page or the Add Folders link in upper right corner.

2 . Under the Rename a Folder section, select the folder that you wish to rename from the drop down list.

3 . Click the Rename button.
4 . You will then be prompted for a new name for the selected folder.
5 . Click the Submit button to rename the folder.
6 . In your list of folders in the left side column, click on the refresh folders list link. Your renamed folder should appear.

Delete a Folder

1. Click on Folders link at top of page or the Add Folders link in upper right corner.

2 . Under the Delete Folder section, select the folder that you wish to delete from the drop down list.

3 . Click the Delete button
4 . You will be asked to confirm that you wish to delete the folder. Click on the Yes button to complete folder deletion.
5 . In your list of folders in the left side column, click on the refresh folders list link. Your folder should disappear.

Subscribe/Unsubscribe

This is an advanced feature, rarely used on Haverford's campus. For more information on this service, please read the follwing which is provided by Squirrelmail Help page:

6.5 - Unsubscribe and Subscribe
Definitions:
Subscribe: To register a folder with the mail server, allowing you to view it in the folder listings.
Unsubscribe: The opposite of subscribing. This unregisters a folder with the mail server.

You may choose as many folders as you wish from either the subscribe or the unsubscribe box, then click the button under the box to make the action take effect. You will notice that the folders move to the other box. You can then re-subscribe to them, or unsubscribe again as you wish.
